Welcome to the Old Mill Studios Website.

The website features information about the Recording Studio and live venue.

The Old Mill Recording Studios is located in a 17th century mill converted into a live arts theatre. The Studio offers the relaxed and inspiring environment of the old mill featuring the original stonework and high quality acoustics of this historic building. Two main recording spaces are available, the first being the main theatre where the option exists to alter the acoustic character by opening or closing the surrounding heavy curtains which will liven or dampen the area. The second recording space is much more reflective, with a longer reverb to suit certain musical tastes and styles.

The Old Mill contains a kitchen area, 4 toilets, 2 pre-show dressing rooms for relaxing and chilling out, and is situated next to an old castle on the edge of the town. It is however, only two minutes walk from the town centre and across the road from a snooker/pool hall and free car parking.

Lots been happening here at Old Mill Studios with forthcoming records from Nacional: Telephone/Yorkshire on label Art/goes/Pop and Diamond Sea have signed with Skean dhu recordings. 12th November

A big thank you to one and all for coming to the gig last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who made the journey from Hamilton, and thanks to the Strathaven regulars and bebo freeks. The next shows will be December. We have two shows in the first two Saturdays of December. December 1st we have Lucas, The Heebie Jeebies and Halcyon. Then a week later we on December 8th we have The Backwards Hi 5's, Local Tour Guide and Soul Circus. Get in touch with the bands or us for tickets, through the contact page.

This Month Old Mill Studios proudly presents Steve Adey of Grand Harmonium records with special guests Royal Edinburgh Music. Tickets are £5.00 and doors will open at 8pm. Look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Aphrodisiacs, The Starlets and Saint Judes Infirmary for playing the Old Mill it was a cracking night and hope to have you all back soon.

18th May

Old Mill Studios has just completed Joe Purdy's new album "Last Clock on the Wall".

There are some updates on the site for your amusement. Firstly there are some cracking new pictures from the studios first gig on the 10th of February. Cheers to Neale Smith for the photos. Secondly a video by Genoa filmed at Old Mill Studios by Ken Neil Associates. Enjoy.

It's been a while folks! A belated happy new year. This Saturday 10th February sees the very first of Old Mill studios planned monthly showcase gigs. The gig will be held within the theatre with three bands playing. the concert will feature The Black Rats, Nacional and The Backwards Hi-Fives. 8th December 2006

Edinburgh band The Dials completed their new single Angelene at Old Mill studios. The Dials are heading for big things having recently supported the Fratellis, the Subways, the Sunshine Underground and the View. Both songs the band recorded should appear on their myspace soon check them out.

Thursday has seen the studio complete three drum tracks for electronica band Sisa. The tracks will be on their myspace to preview soon.

The studio completed 3 new songs for upcoming Glasgow band weebeastie. One of the songs is now on our myspace page for your aural pleasure. More songs to sample in the media section.

Old Mill Studios has finished recording two tracks with Genaro. New pictures from the recordings are now available in the images section. The songs will be available to sample on the artists page soon.

11th October 2006

Old Mill Studios was used for the filming of a video for De Rosa by the BBC for the new series of BBC 2's Music Show. The song featured will be Evelyn part of De Rosa's new double A-side single Evelyn/Fathers eyes. The music show starts on November 5th at 7.30pm and the De Rosa video will be viewed on the 4th or 5th episode. We'll keep you posted. Some new pictures up in the image section.
